ChiropracticWHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC? Chiropractic is a practical, gentle and non-invasive treatment that improves joint motion, resolves joint dysfunction, while giving patients relief from headaches and lifes aches and pains. WHAT DOES CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT DO? Chiropractic manual therapy uses hands to provide deep tissue work, trigger point work to release muscle spasms, and manipulation to restore joint motion. Manipulation will break adhesion of scar tissue and joints; adding flexibility to scar tissue areas and improving motion. Patients usually experience increased motion and diminished headaches. If left untreated, the breakdown of discs and the fusion of long-term immobile joints will cause degenerative changes in the final stage; thus, adding permanent range of motion loss. WHAT DOES CHIROPRACTIC TREAT? Pressure, irritation and inflammation can cause headaches, neck pain and stiffness related to degeneration of the spine. Repetitive postures, such as sitting at a desk, weekend warrior behavior of sporadic exercising without prior stretching, or chronically over doing activities can cause dysfunction or lack of normal motion between the joints. WHAT SHOULD A CHIROPRACTIC PATIENT EXPECT? Before receiving Chiropractic treatment, a patients area of injury must be thoroughly examined. X-rays are important to a chiropractic exam, allowing the doctor to actually see any compensation of the spine as well as any long-term degenerative changes the patient may already be suffering from. In addition, the patients medical history and any existing conditions need to be evaluated to see if in fact a person is a good chiropractic candidate, and finally 2-6 treatment sessions so the patient can actually feel the improvements. |
